Toys are the one of best ways to educate and/or entertain a child. While a soft toy would console him, a construction set would probably hone his artistic skills. The toys made in the USA run along all these lines perhaps. While we find a wide range of dolls to choose from, we also find a range of toys that would eventually lead to the development of the child. But USA had also given birth to video games and computer games, which while making the child intellectually sharp – has almost robbed him off his physical fitness. The instruments used for playing games too could be called “toys” in one sense. After all, we do play with them.
The toy trains running through the built up railways, or the cars running through the race tracks – all these and more were discovered merely for the benefit of the children. But are these products made in the USA helping the children worldwide or harming them? While some of the games are educative, for example the puzzles and the building games, which show the child’s interest and patience, other games, could be right down harmful. The video games used to be monitored, so that there were no graphic scenes which could lead to hampering the child’s innocence.
A teddy bear would perhaps help them sleep better at night, cuddling something soft in their arms. But at the same time, their own independence would be curbed becoming dependent on the soft toy for comfort. Plato had said that a child, who would become an architect later on in his life, should spend his time with minor building. Even though dolls are thought to be exclusively girl toys, even a boy could play with it. Other toys are not as stereotyped as we tend to do with the baby dolls or even the range of Barbie.
